Summer Activity- Calling All Writers!

Jun 18, 2012 by Yolanda Fontanez-Coleman | Summer Slide Prevention

Inspire your child to write a book! Kids will have lots of fun as they explore and share facts from their own lives. Children of all ages can take part in this activity.

The activity begins with children gathering information about their lives through photos. Here are some ideas for photos that can inspire the writing process:

  • Your child doing something (playing soccer, swimming etc..)
  • Photos of places they have visited
  • Photos of your child’s favorite people
  • Photos of your child’s special things or events

Have your child brainstorm ideas for their book.  Here are some ideas to think about:

  • Jot down important dates relevant to their lives (birthdays, graduations etc..)
  • What is their favorite sport?
  • What is their favorite pastime?
  • Who is their role model and why?
  • What accomplishment are they most proud of?

When your child has put together their ideas and photos you will want them to make a draft of their autobiography. Once the draft and revision process is completed your child can write the final version and publish their books through sites such as www.blurb.com or www.lulu.com!

Happy  Learning! Let us know your thoughts and share your autobiographies!
