Bullying…an issue for all

Mar 11, 2011 by Yolanda Fontanez-Coleman | Bullying, Uncategorized

Every time I turn on the news or go on-line I see a story about bullying. It breaks my heart to hear of so many children suffering at the hands of bullies. I speak to parents on a daily basis and I hear more and more stories of children being bullied right in my own backyard. They may not make local or national headlines, but they are real stories about children in our neighborhoods, our school and even in our own families.

Bullying affects children’s self esteem, as well as their social, emotional and academic development. What are we doing to stand up for our children? As parents and educators we must advocate and protect our children! What would you do if your child came home and told you she was being bullied in school?

Here are 2 sites that are good resources to learn more about bullying and what we can do to help our children!

If you have any experiences with bulling, please share your story as it may help another parent and/or child to deal with what they are going through.
