Avoid the Summer Slump with Test Prep Practice

Jul 25, 2012 by Yolanda Fontanez-Coleman | ACT, SAT Prep, Test Prep

Trouble staying on course with your test prep over the summer?  The SAT and ACT tests are scheduled early in the fall, therefore it is imperative to stay on schedule with your preparations and reviews for the tests over the summer.  The best way to do so, you may ask?  The Buddy System:  having someone to prepare with does wonders to keep you on track.  Pick a day of the week, let’s say Monday for example.  Plan to meet every Monday: same time, same place.  During your meeting time, you can score each other’s practice tests and discuss/help one another with incorrect or weak areas.  Your weak area may be your friend’s strength and vice versa.  Then over the week, each of you completes another practice test and so on.  This holds you accountable to complete the practice tests and review in preparation for the tests themselves.  If friends are away or you are on vacation, you can do the same thing with a parent or relative.  Friends and loved ones are a great support system and resource that can help us review skills we may need to sharpen up on or continue to practice.  Use them to ensure that you don’t catch the “summer slump” before taking the test!
