Summer Reading

This has been a brutal winter and beginning of spring here in the Philadelphia area, however it is never too early to think about summer time!  What plans do you have for your children this summer? Summer time becomes such a challenging time for both the stay at home parent and the working parents. Here are some great tips to help you plan out your summer for your children.

Step One: Plan Week By Week: It may make sense to plan out your summer week by week. Begin by charting down all the special events that will occur during the summer:  vacation dates, birthdays, holidays etc. This will help you have an idea of how many days you will need to plan for.

Step Two: Establish Your Summer Goals For Your Family: It is important to define what “type” of summer you want your children to experience. Do you want them to have a packed schedule with activities? Would you rather them have a relaxed laid back kind of summer? Knowing what type of summer break you want them to have will make the planning process a bit easier. Ask them also what they may like, they will enjoy taking part in some of the planning as well.

Step Three: Research Your Summer Options: Once you have defined your summer goals it will be easier to begin your research. If you prefer your child to have a scheduled filled with activities, you may want the camp options. There are quite a few options for camps: half day, full day and overnight camp. There are sports specific camps, educational camps and much more. Finding the right camp for your child can be an overwhelming task. Here are few tips on finding the “right” camp for your child.
