Create Routines:
Routines are vital to the success of any learning environment especially in the home. Set up a routine that will work best for you and your family. Be sure to communicate the routine with everyone in your family. Post your new schedule so everyone can see!
Set Expectations:
It is very important to set goals and expectations with your children. Do you want them working independently or will you be working alongside them?
Be Available:
Let your children know when you are able to help them. Set time aside to help them when needed.
Create a School Zone:
Establish an area in your home that will be the dedicated space for school work. This creates boundaries in your home and will foster organization and will minimize stress.
Be Flexible:
Be flexible, if things are not working, change it up. Do what works for your child, we all learn in different ways so find that works best for your child. If you have several children this may be a bit challenging. Being flexible enables growth and facilitates a more positive learning environment.
Collaborate and Connect with Others:
Homeschooling can feel isolating and lonely for some children. If your school is not providing online instruction, create an online community so your child can connect virtually with their classmates. This is also great for the parents to connect and discuss any concerns related to school work.
