Safety Protocols for In-Home Tutoring Services

Jun 17, 2020 by Yolanda Fontanez-Coleman | Tutoring

In response to COVID-19 the following changes are being implemented for in-home and in-school tutoring services for the safety of our staff and clients. We have developed our COVID-19 safety protocols in conjunction with the national safety guidelines. These are subject to change as we learn more about the virus.

Safety Comes First

Tutor Protocols

Prior to Attending Tutoring Session:

  • Tutor Temperature checks must be done 3 hours prior to the tutoring session. If the tutor’s temperature is greater than 100.4, they need to contact the client directly and reschedule the session or conduct the session virtually.
  • Wash or sanitize hands before entering the home.

During Tutoring Session:

  • Tutors must wear face masks upon entering the client’s home and throughout the duration of the tutoring session in the home. If sessions are occurring outside, masks are not required.
  • Bring your own supplies to tutoring sessions: pencils, pens, computers, paper etc.
  • Avoid sharing tutoring supplies with students.
  • Bring your own hand sanitizer to each and every session and have available during your session.
  • Establish distance during tutoring sessions: CDC recommends 6 feet distance between student and tutor.
  • Establish the recommended 6 feet distance between tutor and other family members in the home.
  • Family members present in the home should be a minimum of 6 feet distance from tutor during tutoring sessions.
